Kara "KK"

Kara "KK"
Kara began her career in radio the same way many others have before her….as a volunteer. She joined the WKYS KYS Crew, the station’s volunteer street team, while studying Journalism at the University of Maryland, College Park. She then interned at the station being groomed for the position of Promotion’s Assistant immediately after earning her BA in Journalism/ Public Relations. Kara developed a passion for creating larger than life events and on-air promotions for WKYS and implementing gorilla marketing tactics in the ultra competitive Washington, DC Market. Her passion, dedication and attention to detail caught the attention of execs at BET who courted her to become the Entertainment Coordinator and eventually Entertainment Director of its restaurant division. Kara assisted with launching the BET SoundStage Restaurant/ Largo, MD, BET on Jazz Restaurant/ Washington, DC, Tres Jazz Night Club/ Las Vegas and BET SoundStage Club/ Pleasure Island, Orlando. She was responsible for creating themes and booking live entertainment at the venues. When BET got out of the restaurant business, Kara was once again courted to return to her first love….radio, this time as Programming Assistant. She was quickly recruited to manage the WKYS website and coordinate the nationally syndicated Russ Parr Morning Show. Once again her passion, dedication and keen sense for detail caught the attention of Russ Parr who groomed her to become his Executive Producer, a position she’s held for nearly 10 years which is unheard of in radio. Most recently she added Director of Operations for the Russ Parr Morning Show to her repetuar and manages the overall operations of the Nationally Syndicated Russ Parr Morning Show. During her 14 years in radio, Kara has worn many hats and contributed both on and off air, behind the scenes and in front of the mic. She’s voiced commercials for salons, political candidates, schools, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, churches and more. She fills in for Alfredas and Shaqwana on the Russ Parr Morning Show and is the voice of Ms. Mable, a beloved reoccurring character on the show.
